Bridgeport resident Undrea Kirkland haș been sentenced to 17 years in prison by US District Justice Janet Bond Arterton in New Haven followed by three years of post-release supervision for his role in several shootings, US Attorney Leonard Boyle announced.

Kirkland has been a member of the “Greene Homes Boyz,” a gang based in the Charles F. Greene Homes Housing Complex in Bridgeport’s North End, whose members and associates distributed heroin, crack cocaine, marijuana, and Percocet pills; committed numerous acts of violence against rival gang members and other individuals; and celebrated their criminal conduct on social media websites such as Facebook and YouTube, according to officials.

Additionally, Boyle said that members and associates also committed acts of intimidation and made threats to deter potential witnesses to their crimes and to protect gang members and associates from detection and prosecution by law enforcement authorities.

Specifically, Kirkland pleaded guilty in September 2021 to one count of conspiracy to engage in a pattern of racketeering activity, admitting that on May 22, 2015, he made multiple attempts to kill rival gang members of the East End Gang.

Boyle said that Kirkland also appears in a YouTube video surrounded by other gang members hoisting a gun with a 50-round drum, where he discussed acts of violence and celebrated a jury acquittal for his state trial for attempted murder.

In the YouTube video, Kirkland also asserted that his acquittal was a by-product of jury intimidation.

Kirkland has been detained since his arrest in April 2019. He had faced up to 20 years in prison.
